Build your blog’s authority with LinkedIn and Google Alerts

If blogging is a big part of your marketing strategy, creating an air of authority is a critical success factor. Douglas Karr, vice president of blogging evangelism for Compendium, a firm that offers “Blogware” to help improve corporate blogs, says one trick to building credibility and enhancing visitors’ perception of your blog as an authoritative voice involves using LinkedIn Answers and Google Alerts. “For the terms that you’d like to build authority on within LinkedIn, make a Google Alert [using the terms desired]. Select ‘Web’ as the type and ‘as-it-happens’ for how often,” Karr suggests. For example, he says, if you wish to build yourself up as a social networking expert, you can set up a Google Alert as follows:
site:http://www.linkedin.com/answers/ “social network” “social networking” “This will send me an e-mail each time someone asks a question on LinkedIn Answers, allowing me the opportunity to respond and build authority in LinkedIn as well as providing an opportunity to put links back to the sites I wish to promote.” Karr explains. “LinkedIn Answers can be a great way to promote your blog since folks can look up previous questions and responses. It’s a growing knowledge base that’s very popular.” Go to: The Marketing Technology Blog
